Indulge in the rich flavors of Beef Lombardi, a hearty Italian-inspired dish that promises to satisfy your cravings. Layers of tender beef, creamy cheese, and savory tomato sauce come together in this comforting casserole.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces egg noodles, cooked according to package instructions
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent and the beef is fully cooked.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  4. In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the cooked egg noodles evenly on the bottom.
  5. Spread half of the beef and tomato sauce mixture over the noodles.
  6. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the beef mixture.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining noodles, beef mixture, and mozzarella cheese.
  8. In a small bowl, mix together the sour cream and grated Parmesan cheese until well combined. Spread this mixture evenly over the top layer of mozzarella cheese.
  9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  11. Let the Beef Lombardi rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy this comforting dish with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal. Buon appetito!
