Beef Stroganoff Recipe

A hearty and comforting dish, Beef Stroganoff is a classic that never fails to impress. Tender beef strips are simmered in a rich and creamy sauce, served over a bed of egg noodles or rice. Perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special occasion.

  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240ml) beef broth
  • 1 cup (240ml) sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice, for serving

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips and cook until browned on all sides, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their juices and become tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to cook off the raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream and Dijon mustard until smooth and well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Return the cooked beef strips to the skillet and simmer gently in the sauce for 5-7 minutes, until heated through and flavors meld.
  8. Serve the Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade Beef Stroganoff!
