Buttery Pecan Snowball Cookies

These delightful snowball cookies are rich with the flavor of toasted pecans and coated in powdered sugar, making them perfect for any occasion.


  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, plus more for coating
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecans, finely chopped


  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the bottoms of the cookies are lightly golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool slightly on the baking sheet.
  10. While still slightly warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar until coated evenly. Place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Once cooled, roll the cookies in powdered sugar once more for a snowy finish.
