  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup grated carrot
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (or water)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or cilantro
  • Vegetable oil for frying

  1. Prepare the Vegetables:
  • In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated carrot. Mix well.
  1. Make the Batter:
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, and cumin.
  • In a small bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk (or water). Mix well.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Add the chopped parsley or cilantro and the vegetable mixture to the batter. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
  1. Fry the Fritters:
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
  • Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the skillet, flattening them slightly with the back of the spoon.
  • Fry the fritters for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the fritters from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve the cabbage fritters warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sour cream, yogurt sauce, or a spicy chili dip.
