  • 1 lb (450 g) chicken tenders or boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into strips
  • 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) water or milk
  • 1 1/2 cups (150 g) breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tsp (5 g) salt
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 g) black pepper
  • 1 tsp (5 g) paprika
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 g) garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 g) onion powder
  • Cooking oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)

  1. Prep the Chicken:
  • If using chicken breasts, cut them into strips approximately 1 inch wide. If using chicken tenders, they are already the right size.
  1. Prepare the Breading Station:
  • Set up three shallow dishes: one with the flour, one with the eggs beaten with the water or milk, and one with the breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese (if using), salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  1. Bread the Chicken:
  • Dredge each chicken strip in the flour, shaking off any excess.
  • Dip the floured chicken strip into the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.
  • Finally, coat the chicken strip with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere.
  1. Fry the Chicken:
  • In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, you can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of bread; if it sizzles and turns golden brown within a minute, the oil is ready.
  • Fry the chicken strips in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the chicken fingers from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve the chicken fingers hot with your favorite dipping sauces such as ranch, honey mustard, barbecue sauce, or ketchup.

Enjoy your homemade chicken fingers!
