Chicken Spring Roll Recipe

Delicious and crispy chicken spring rolls filled with a savory mixture of chicken, vegetables, and seasonings. Perfect as an appetizer or a snack.

Ingredients

  • For the Filling:
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1/2 cup carrots, julienned
  • 1/2 cup bean sprouts
  • 3 green onions, finely sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for sautéing)
  • For the Spring Rolls:
  • Spring roll wrappers (about 20 pieces)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage and carrots, and cook for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
  5. Stir in the bean sprouts and green onions, cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add the shredded chicken, soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and ground black pepper. Stir well to combine.
  7. Cook the mixture for another 2-3 minutes, ensuring all ingredients are well coated and heated through.
  8. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.
  9. Assemble the Spring Rolls:
  10. Lay a spring roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing towards you, creating a diamond shape.
  11. Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling near the corner closest to you.
  12. Fold the corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and continue to roll up tightly.
  13. Brush a little beaten egg on the top corner to seal the roll.
  14. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  15. Fry the Spring Rolls:
  16. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat until hot (around 350°F or 175°C).
  17. Carefully add a few spring rolls at a time, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.
  18. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  19. Serve:
  • Serve the chicken spring rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or a spicy peanut sauce.
