Crispy Mozzarella Sticks Recipe

  • 12 sticks of mozzarella cheese (about 3 inches long and ½ inch thick)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Marinara sauce for dipping


  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks, about 3 inches long and ½ inch thick. Place them on a plate and freeze for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  3. In three separate shallow bowls, prepare your breading station. In the first bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In the second bowl, beat the eggs. In the third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper.
  4. Remove the mozzarella sticks from the freezer. Dip each stick first into the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s fully coated. Finally, coat the stick in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Place the coated sticks on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Once all the sticks are coated, place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the mozzarella sticks are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
