Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 24 ounces (680g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
  • 1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the chocolate cookie crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar, and melted butter. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust. Place in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the filling.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and 1 cup of sugar until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract and sour cream until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour to the cream cheese mixture, mixing until smooth and no lumps remain.
  5. Stir in the melted chocolate until fully incorporated into the batter.
  6. Pour the cheesecake batter over the chilled crust in the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.
  8. Turn off the oven and leave the cheesecake inside with the door closed for an additional 30 minutes to allow it to cool gradually.
  9. Remove the cheesecake from the oven and let it cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
  10. Before serving, carefully remove the cheesecake from the springform pan and transfer it to a serving plate.
  11. Spoon the cherry pie filling over the top of the cheesecake, spreading it evenly.
  12. Slice and serve the Black Forest cheesecake chilled, and enjoy the heavenly combination of flavors!
