Decadent Chocolate Caramel Cake Recipe

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until well combined.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin, but that’s normal.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

  8. Once the cakes are cooled, spread a layer of caramel sauce over the top of one cake layer.
  9. Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining caramel sauce over the top of the cake.
