Dutch Baby Bake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, fresh berries, maple syrup, lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a 10-inch cast iron skillet or ovenproof frying pan in the oven to heat up.
  2. Prepare Batter: In a blender, combine the eggs, flour, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain, about 20-30 seconds. Alternatively, whisk vigorously in a bowl.
  3. Melt Butter: Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven using oven mitts. Add the butter to the skillet, swirling it around to coat the bottom and sides as it melts.
  4. Bake: Pour the batter into the skillet over the melted butter. Immediately return the skillet to the oven.
  5. Bake Until Puffy and Golden: Bake for 20-25 minutes until the Dutch Baby is puffed up and golden brown around the edges.
  6. Serve: Remove the skillet from the oven. The Dutch Baby will deflate slightly. Slice and serve immediately with your favorite toppings such as powdered sugar, fresh berries, a squeeze of lemon juice, or a drizzle of maple syrup. Enjoy!
