Fried Cabbage with Bacon Recipe

This recipe combines the sweetness of cabbage with the rich, smoky flavor of bacon for a comforting and delicious side dish.

  • 1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 6 slices of bacon, diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for a hint of spice

  1. In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until it’s crispy and browned. Remove the bacon from the pan and set it aside, leaving the bacon grease in the pan.
  2. In the same skillet with the bacon grease, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the thinly sliced cabbage to the skillet, stirring to combine it with the onions and garlic. Cook the cabbage for about 10-15 minutes, or until it’s tender but still has a bit of crunch.
  4. Season the cabbage mixture with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired. Taste and adjust the seasoning according to your preference.
  5. Once the cabbage is cooked to your liking, stir in the cooked bacon pieces. Allow everything to heat through for another minute or two.
  6. Serve the fried cabbage with bacon hot as a tasty side dish alongside your favorite main course. Enjoy!
