Garlic Butter Steak Recipe

A delicious and juicy steak cooked to perfection, topped with a rich garlic butter sauce that adds a burst of flavor with every bite.

  • 2 ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • Optional: lemon wedges for serving

  1. Prep the Steaks:
    • Take the steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature (about 30 minutes).
    • Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the Pan:
    • Heat a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.
    • Add the olive oil and let it heat until shimmering.
  3. Cook the Steaks:
    • Place the steaks in the hot pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust the cooking time to your preferred doneness.
    • Avoid moving the steaks around too much to get a nice sear.
  4. Make the Garlic Butter:
    • While the steaks are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
    • Add the minced garlic, rosemary, and thyme to the butter.
    • Cook for about 1-2 minutes, until the garlic is fragrant but not burnt.
  5. Baste the Steaks:
    • When the steaks are almost done, add the garlic butter mixture to the pan.
    • Use a spoon to baste the steaks with the melted garlic butter.
  6. Rest and Serve:
    • Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes.
    • Slice the steaks against the grain and drizzle with any remaining garlic butter from the pan.
    • Serve with optional lemon wedges for a fresh burst of flavor.

Enjoy your perfectly cooked garlic butter steak!
