Lemon Chicken, with Lemon Butter Sauce Recipe

This delightful lemon chicken dish is bursting with bright flavors and succulent tenderness. Coated in a tangy lemon butter sauce, it’s a perfect balance of zest and richness.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

  1. Begin by preparing the chicken breasts. Place them between two sheets of plastic wrap and gently pound them to an even thickness, about 1/2 inch. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. In a shallow dish, spread out the flour. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breasts and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth, lemon juice, and lemon zest, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and whisk in the butter, one tablespoon at a time, until melted and smooth. Continue to simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, turning them to coat evenly in the lemon butter sauce. Allow them to heat through for a minute or two.
  8. Serve the lemon chicken hot, garnished with chopped parsley. Enjoy the vibrant flavors of this lemony delight!
