Low Carb Chaffle Burger Recipe

A delicious low-carb alternative to the traditional burger, using chaffles (cheese waffles) as the bun. Perfect for keto diets or anyone looking to cut down on carbs without sacrificing flavor.

Ingredients

For the Chaffles:

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Non-stick cooking spray

For the Burger:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Onion slices
  • Your favorite low-carb condiments (e.g., mustard, sugar-free ketchup, mayonnaise)

Instructions

Prepare the Chaffles:

  1. Preheat your waffle maker and lightly coat it with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, almond flour, baking powder, and garlic powder until well combined.
  3. Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  4. Pour a portion of the batter into the preheated waffle maker, enough to cover the surface evenly but not overflowing.
  5. Close the waffle maker and cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the chaffles are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Carefully remove the chaffles and set aside to cool. Repeat the process until all the batter is used.

Prepare the Burger Patties:

  1. Preheat a grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape into patties.
  3. Season both sides of each patty with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook the patties on the grill or skillet for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  5. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assemble the Chaffle Burgers:

  1. Place one chaffle on a plate as the bottom “bun.”
  2. Add a cooked burger patty on top of the chaffle.
  3. Layer with lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and onion slices.
  4. Drizzle your favorite low-carb condiments over the toppings.
  5. Place another chaffle on top as the upper “bun.”
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious low-carb chaffle burger!
