Meatball Boats Recipe

Meatball Boats are a fun and delicious way to enjoy meatballs with a twist. These are perfect for a family dinner, a casual get-together, or even as a party appetizer. The dish consists of hollowed-out baguettes filled with meatballs and marinara sauce, topped with melted cheese.

  • 1 large baguette
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Olive oil for drizzling

  1. Preheat Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  1. Prepare the Baguette:
  • Cut the baguette into three or four equal pieces, depending on the size of the baguette.
  • Hollow out the center of each piece to create a boat shape, leaving about 1/2 inch of bread around the edges. Save the removed bread for another use, such as breadcrumbs.
  1. Make the Meatballs:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  1. Cook the Meatballs:
  • In a large skillet, heat a small amount of olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, until they are browned on all sides and cooked through (about 10-12 minutes).
  • Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set them aside.
  1. Assemble the Meatball Boats:
  • Place the hollowed-out baguette pieces on a baking sheet.
  • Spoon a small amount of marinara sauce into the bottom of each baguette boat.
  • Place 3-4 meatballs into each boat (depending on the size of the baguette pieces).
  • Spoon more marinara sauce over the meatballs.
  • Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  1. Bake the Boats:
  • Drizzle a little olive oil over the top of each baguette boat.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
  • Optionally, garnish with additional chopped parsley or grated Parmesan cheese.

Enjoy your delicious Meatball Boats!
