Pepperoni Pizza Casserole Recipe

  • 12 oz (340g) pasta (penne or rotini works well)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz (680g) marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package (6 oz) sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)


  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook Pasta: Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare Meat Sauce:
    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
    • Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
    • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
    • Stir in the marinara or pizza sauce, diced tomatoes, dried oregano, and dried basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Assemble Casserole:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta and meat sauce. Mix until the pasta is well coated.
    • Transfer half of the pasta mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
    • Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the pasta.
    • Arrange half of the pepperoni slices over the cheese.
    • Repeat with the remaining pasta mixture, cheese, and pepperoni.
    • Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  5. Bake:
    • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
    • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
