Potato Snacks Recipe

A delightful and crispy snack combining the goodness of rice and potatoes. Perfect for tea-time or as an appetizer for gatherings.

  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 2 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs (for binding)
  • Oil for frying

  1. Preparation:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice and mashed potatoes.
  • Add the finely chopped onion, green chilies (if using), and fresh coriander leaves to the mixture.
  • Mix in the cumin seeds, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  • Ensure all ingredients are thoroughly mixed to form a cohesive dough. If the mixture is too soft, add bread crumbs gradually until it holds together well.
  1. Shaping the Snacks:
  • Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into small patties or balls, as desired. Ensure they are uniform in size for even cooking.
  1. Frying:
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully slide in a few of the shaped snacks. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry the snacks until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides, turning occasionally.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried snacks and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  1. Serving:
  • Serve the rice and potato snacks hot with your favorite chutney or dipping sauce. They pair well with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or even ketchup.

Enjoy your delicious and crispy rice and potato snacks!
