  • 1 package (0.25 ounce) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ½ – 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • Cream cheese frosting (optional)

  1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Stir in the granulated sugar, melted butter, cocoa powder, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  3. Gradually add in the flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. You may not need all the flour.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 12×18-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  7. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
  8. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle it evenly over the buttered dough.
  9. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll up the dough into a log and pinch the seam to seal.
  10. Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal slices using a sharp knife or dental floss.
  11. Place the slices in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, cover with a kitchen towel, and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  12. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  13. Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  14. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before drizzling with cream cheese frosting, if desired.
  15. Serve warm and enjoy the heavenly combination of red velvet and cinnamon!

Note: These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat before serving, if desired.
