For the Dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110°F / 45°C)
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F / 45°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg

For the Vanilla Cream Filling:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Glaze (optional):

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Prepare the Dough:
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, melted butter, salt, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. Add the yeast mixture and the egg to the milk mixture. Stir until combined.
