  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For Topping:

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

  1. Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  1. Prepare the Crust:
  • In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Add the 2 cups of flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the butter mixture, and stir until a dough forms.
  • Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish, making sure to cover the bottom completely.
  • Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  1. Prepare the Custard Filling:
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until well blended.
  • Add the 1/2 cup of flour and whisk until smooth.
  • Gradually whisk in the whole milk, heavy cream, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  1. Assemble and Bake:
  • Pour the custard filling over the baked crust, spreading it out evenly.
  • Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the custard is set and the edges are lightly golden. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let the bars cool completely in the baking dish.
  1. Finish and Serve:
  • Once the bars are completely cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar.
  • Cut into squares and serve. Enjoy!
